Interview for CM Club Magazine
Before diving into the interview, we are pleased to feature Rick Sykes in CM Club Magazine. The photoshoot, set along Ocean Drive with a classic 80s Miami Vice vibe and at the Yacht Club Miami Beach Marina, highlights his distinctive style. Thank you for sharing your insights with our community.
CMCM: Rick, you've had such a fascinating journey. Could you share what it’s like being a celebrity?
RS: Well, it’s crazy. People come up to me all the time and say, ‘Oh my God, I know you. "They'll say, 'You're that guy on TV,' and I just laugh because it's so confusing. They feel like they know you intimately, but in reality, you have no idea who they are. It's a strange dynamic where the connection is one-sided, and it can sometimes be hard to navigate. They act like you're their best friend, and sometimes I’m left wondering, ‘Who is this person?’ But that’s the strange part about fame—it’s like you're living in this bubble where people think they know everything about you.
CMCM: For aspiring actors or influencers,
what advice would you give on
how to get famous?

RS: That’s a tough question. I believe it’s something inside you. Either you have it or you don’t. I’ve been acting my whole life, though not in front of a camera. But I live life to the extreme—whether it’s smashing cars, jumping out of airplanes. The formula is living your life fully and staying true to who you are. It's all about pushing boundaries.

The people who are miserable are the ones who are constantly chasing things that are impossible to attain. They know they can’t achieve them, so they’re always looking for ways to climb over someone else to get ahead. And then, people don’t like them.
When people don’t like you, it leads to bad attitudes towards you, which creates a negative experience in life. You have to have a positive attitude about life. And you know that saying, 'What goes around comes around'? It’s very true. If you're good to people, people will be good to you. If you're not good to people, they won't be good to you. And when people aren’t good to you, you won't have a good life.

If you're good to people, people will be good to you. If you're not good to people, they won't be good to you. And when people aren’t good to you, you won't have a good life.
CMCM: Being in the spotlight, what’s one of the most unexpected or surreal moments you've experienced?
RS: It's the weirdest thing. I get texts from girls saying they want to marry me. They tell me I'm exactly who they've been looking for, love my attitude, and want to do anything in the world for me. It happens all the time. But it also gets confusing and overwhelming when people start treating you like a character in their own life story. That’s the side of fame no one really talks about.
CMCM: How did you end up getting involved with Marrying Millions? Was it through your social media presence, and how did you become so popular?
RS: I was lucky to meet a stunning young lady named Erika online, and we hit it off with a fun, spontaneous love affair. She was into social media, and I wasn’t, but she convinced me to do TikTok skits, and before we knew it, we started gaining popularity. Out of the blue, Lifetime TV contacted us, having found us on TikTok, and asked if we’d like to be part of a reality show called Marrying Millions.

CMCM: So, what’s your recipe for success?
RS: For me, success is about being happy. It sounds simple, but it’s true. People who are always searching for unattainable things, looking to climb over others, usually end up miserable. It's the people with good attitudes who get the best out of life. Life is about balance, kindness, and just living your best self. What goes around comes around.
CMCM: You’ve experienced so much. Finally, what’s the most important lesson you’ve learned through all of this?
RS: I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that life is about enjoying the ride. You can’t control everything, but you can control your attitude, your happiness, and your ability to embrace each moment. If you do that, you’ll be successful no matter what.
CMCM: What’s next for you? What are your upcoming projects?

RS: My future plans include working on my new show, Hot Yacht Miami Models, and finishing my second book, Less Drugs, More Roses. It's part of my trilogy, and I plan for it to turn into a TV series or a movie.
I’ve also been doing a lot of acting. I was recently in a music video, and they said I did phenomenal. I’ve been in two movies recently, one being the FTX movie, where I play Sam Brinkman Freed's girlfriend’s father, an MIT professor. It’s been surreal.
And just for a fun story—when people found out I wrote a book, they all laughed because they thought I couldn’t even read.
The only thing that's changed is
most of my friends from back home in New Haven, Connecticut, are dead.
I'm still alive, and I wonder why.

I don't understand why or how I'm still alive, but I am, and I'm loving every second of it. But in Miami, I've made a lot of new friends over the last ten years. Life is constantly changing, and sometimes the people you start with aren’t the ones who’ll be with you in the end.
